Amazon recently announced that as of July 1, 2024, their voice assistant Alexa will no longer support third-party shopping and to-do list apps. This change also affects the Bring! app.
You will still be able to use Bring! with Alexa. However, you will have to take an additional step to edit your Bring! shopping list via voice command.
Starting from July, it will no longer suffice to use the command, "Alexa, add milk to my shopping list," to add items directly to your Bring! shopping list. Instead, the item would land on Alexa's internal list.
To ensure your items are added to your Bring! list, you will first have to explicitly ask Alexa to open the Bring! app before you can manage your shopping list via voice command.
You can also give the command in a single sentence: "Alexa, open Bring! and add bread to my shopping list." The crucial thing is that you first explicitly ask Alexa to open Bring! before you edit your shopping list.
This change was decided by Amazon and affects Bring! as well as other third-party apps. We apologize for any inconvenience and are happy to assist you with any questions via feedback@getbring.com
